High Achievers

Maribyrnong College is a great school for high-ability, aspirant students. We have programs across Year 7-12 that support students to thrive and pursue their academic goals.

ACE - Year 7-9

Students who complete the ACE (Advanced Curriculum Enrichment) program will complete most of their Year 7-10 studies across the first three years of their secondary schooling at Maribyrnong College.

Students will be selected into ACE primarily on their intellectual, creative and critical thinking abilities. The program develops student’s skills in independent learning, higher-order thinking and social and emotional wellbeing, by exposing them to a greater breadth and depth of curriculum.

VCE Acceleration - Year 10

The College encourages high achieving students to select a VCE subject as part of their Year 10 program. With a broad range of subjects available (see VCE Handbook), students can accelerate in a subject where they achieve success and maximise their opportunities for academic achievement across VCE.

AMP - Year 11+12

AMP - our ATAR Maximisation Program - is a selective program for students entering Year 11 to accelerate into two Unit 3+4 subjects. These students then complete four Unit 3+4 subjects in Year 12 (one less than standard) and have double the amount of study periods in Year 12 (10 periods).

AMP aims to maximise the ATAR for the highest achieving students by spreading Unit 3+4 subjects more evenly across the two-year VCE.

AMP also facilitates the possibility of a student completing a higher education subject at Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES) alongside their four Unit 3+4 subjects.
